
Information
The course additionally provides information regarding workers’ rights, employer responsibilities, and how to file a complaint. The course is taught by an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) authorized instructor. Students will receive a certificate verifying they have completed the class. OSHA cards expire after five years according to the New York City Department of Buildings in order to work on any site.

Managing Safety and Health (2 Hours) - Identify ways of managing commitment and employee involvement - Name the benefits of health and safety programs - Identify the key elements to successful health and safety programs - Describe OSHA/Employer partnership and alliance programs - Identify the costs of accidents Focus Four: Fall Protection (2 Hours) - Identify types of fall hazards associated with workplace environments. - Identify methods to eliminate or protect against fall hazards. Focus Four: Electrocution (2 Hours) - Identify major electrocution hazards - Describe types of electrocution hazards - Protect him/herself from electrocution hazards - Recognize employer requirements to protect workers from electrocution hazards Focus Four: Struck-by (2 Hours) - Identify common struck-by hazards - Describe types of struck-by hazards - Protect themselves from struck-by hazards - Recognize employer requirements to protect workers from struck-by hazards Focus Four: Caught-in or Between (2 Hours) - Identify common caught-in or between hazards - Describe types of caught-in or between hazards - Protect themselves from caught-in or between hazards - Recognize employer requirements to protect workers from caught-in or between hazards Personal Protective Equipment (2 Hours) - Describe the hierarchy of controls as it relates to personal protective equipment. - Identify types of personal protective equipment utilized in construction. - Explain personal protective equipment training requirements. - Explain the responsibilities of employers and employees regarding personal protective equipment. Stairways and Ladders (2 Hours) - Identify types of stairways and ladders used at a construction site. - Describe types of hazards (i.e., slips, trips, and falls) associated with the use of stairs and ladders. - Describe protective methods used to prevent stairway and ladder hazards. - Recognize employer requirements to protect workers from stairway and ladder hazards. Health Hazard in Construction (2 Hours) - Identify common health hazards. - Describe types of common health hazards. - Apply health hazard protection methods. - Recognize employer requirements to protect workers from health hazards in construction, including hazards communication program. Materials Handling, Storage, Use and Disposal (2 Hours) - Identify types of material handling equipment. - Describe hazards associated with material handling activities (e.g., storage, use, and disposal). - Identify methods to prevent hazards associated with material handling equipment. - Recognize employer requirements to protect workers from material handling hazards. Elective Topic: Excavation (2 Hours) - Describe the role of a competent person at an excavation site. - Identify hazards associated with excavations. - Describe the methods for protecting employees from cave-ins. - Apply excavation hazard protection methods. - Recognize employer requirements to protect workers from excavation hazards. Elective Topic: Scaffolds (2 Hours) - Describe the role of a competent person related to scaffolding. - Identify the types of scaffolds commonly used on construction sites. - Describe hazards associated with scaffolds. - Discuss methods to prevent hazards associated with scaffolds. - Recognize employer requirements to protect workers from scaffold hazards. Elective Topic: Hand and Power Tools (1 Hour) - Identify various types of tools commonly used at construction worksites. - Describe types of hazards associated with the use of tools. - Describe guarding requirements for various types of tools. - Describe safe operation methods while working with various types of tools. - Recognize employer requirements to protect workers from tool hazards. Fire Protection and Prevention (1 Hours) - Describe the role of a competent person related to Fire Protection and Prevention. - Identify the types of Fire Protection and Prevention commonly used on construction sites. - Describe hazards associated with Fire Protection and Prevention. - Discuss methods to prevent hazards associated with Fire Protection and Prevention - Recognize employer requirements to protect workers from Fire Protection and Prevention. Elective Topic: Cranes, Derricks, Hoist and Elevators (2 Hour) - Identify common causes of crane accidents. - Describe requirements for crane use, including pre-planning methods. - Describe precautions for crane use near power lines. - Recognize employer requirements to protect workers from crane hazards. - Explain training requirements related to crane operations. Elective Topic: Confined Space Entry (2 hours) - Describe the role of a competent person related to confined space entry. - Identify the types of confined space entry commonly used on construction sites. - Describe hazards associated with confined space entry. - Discuss methods to prevent hazards associated with confined space entry. - Recognize employer requirements to protect workers from confined space entry hazards.
Completion/Replacement Certificate & Card
A certificate of completion will be issued at the end of course which is valid for 90 days Upon completion of the course students will receive a certificate from Design Build Engineering PLLC and will receive an OSHA 10-Hour Construction Industry wallet card from the OSHA Training Institute (OTI). The OSHA Outreach Program Training Guidelines require that the OSHA course completion cards are issued directly to each student, regardless of who paid for the training. These cards must be picked up at our office and sign a release and confirmation of card pick up. The issued card must be carried at all times while on a construction jobsite and present this card as proof of completed course when requested. We suggest you maintain a copy for your records. If this card is lost or stolen you will need to purchase a replacement card at an additional $65. To ask for the transcript, follow the process listed below. 1. The learner must contact the training coordinator through email for the record. 2. The coordinator must verify that they are who they say they are through a series of 4 questions a. Their Name b. The address that was used for the course registration. c. The course they took. d. The phone number or email address that was used during the course registration. 4. Within 3 business days the transcript is sent to them by the training coordinator after verification of their identity in the method they choose. a. Mail the record to them. b. Send a PDF version of the record through their email. c. They can pick it up at the location.
